Puerto Los Cabos
Overlooking the Sea of Cortes, at the last outpost of development before the comforts of modern civilization give way to rugged, unspoiled coastline, the Puerto Los Cabos golf course will take you on a journey you won’t soon forget. With spectacular ocean views from every hole and dramatic elevation changes this composite course, bearing the proud signatures of Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, two of the great masters of the game, will challenge and thrill you.
Golf at Puerto Los Cabos presents a unique opportunity in that our opening 18 holes are a composite design consisting of 9 holes from Jack Nicklaus and 9 holes from Greg Norman. This allows our guests to experience the difference in design philosophies and enjoy a “sneak-peek” of what each of the final 18 hole courses will look like. Never before has work from these great designers been combined to create 18 holes. Today’s Puerto Los Cabos Course consists of the Front Nine of the Greg Norman Signature course and the Back Nine of the Jack Nicklaus Signature course. Each course offers its own unique style, but the results are similar…..absolute bliss.
Two Great Champions, Two Spectacular Courses Capitalizing on the site’s natural beauty was a principal goal for both these champions. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, which will be the Resort course, is certain to rank as one of Los Cabos’ best public courses. The Greg Norman Signature Course will be the private course, reserved solely for the homeowners of the community. Both of these fabulous courses will faithfully carry out the vision of two of the greatest players of all time.
Golfers may prefer the pleasures of the emerald fairways to the temptations of the sapphire sea.
At Puerto Los Cabos, inspiring views of mountains and sea are the backdrop for golf courses designed by true legends of the game. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, certain to rank among the most sought-after games in Los Cabos, and the Greg Norman Signature Course faithfully deliver the quality experience expected from these two legendary players. Each championship-length course will take advantage of the stunning setting and elevation changes to provide dazzling vistas from each hole.
The opening 18 holes are a composite par 73 design consisting of 9 holes from the Jack Nicklaus design and 9 holes from the Greg Norman design. This unique opportunity will allow guests to experience the difference in design philosophies and enjoy a “sneak-peek” of the future development to come.
Cabo Real Golf Club
Cabo Real Golf Club was first opened for play in December 1994. This extraordinary golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., immediately gained worldwide recognition upon opening. The championship golf course is highlighted by its three spectacular ocean front holes. The dramatic natural beauty of these holes were captured at its best during the 1996 PGA Senior Grand Slam, when television fans around the world were treated to an amazing performance by whales who were breaching just yards away from these amazing holes.
Three years later, Cabo Real hosted its 2nd PGA Senior Grand Slam, as the pros were eager to once again experience the unique blend of canyons, mountains, and ocean golf.
Cabo Real is one of the stars of the San Jose del Cabo – Cabo San Lucas corridor. As Trent Jones Jr. remarked, “I attempted to create a high-quality course to look as though it had been entirely designed by the landscape itself, in which each hole provides an ocean view”. This process resulted in a layout that blends into the environment, so that desert hues, fairways and greens, hills, mountains and the ocean all form a harmonious pattern. It might be fair to say that the architect has more discovered the course that designed it.
Cabo Real offers a rich blend of golfing excitement; in fact, its front nine is arguably the best course in Mexico. Players head towards the mountains during the first six holes, testing their skills on a course that is difficult, but adheres to the notion of risk and reward. The first and third holes are both par five and require two good strokes to reach the green, although failed attempts are heavily penalized. The fifth, a long par four, offers a tempting view of the left-hand side of the fairway, but demands a perfect tee shot to the right over a ravine to stay out of trouble. While all three have interesting features, the ninth is a par four of respectable length and an extensive 51 by 125 yard green protected by a lake that is home to regional marine birdlife.
The less complicated back nine runs down to the ocean on the fourteenth and continues on parallel with the coastline through the fifteenth before returning to the clubhouse at of the sixteenth. Note the twelfth in this sequence, a descending par three with a high mountain teeing ground, offering a wonderful view of the fairways, the Sea of Cortés and an invariably cloudless sky. The fifteenth, a short and apparently innocent par three aligned with the beach, suddenly becomes implacable once the wind begins to blow.
After reaching the course’s most pintoresc holes, the final three holes return us to the club house.
Diamante
BO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO (August 17, 2011) – Diamante, a traditional links course sculptured in the sand dunes on the Pacific Coast of the Baja Peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, has been ranked No. 58 on GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World 2011. Diamante, which opened in 2009 in a private oceanfront community, is the first of three planned courses. Debuting at No. 58 is a remarkable achievement and rates as the fourth highest ranked new course in the history of The Top 100 Courses in the World. By entering the coveted ranks of the Top 100, Diamante joins a list of the world’s most prestigious, famous and respected courses. Last year, GOLF Magazine named Diamante the Best New International course of 2010. Current U.S. Ryder Cup Captain and PGA Champion Davis Love III worked closely with his friend and Diamante Developer Mr. Ken Jowdy to design the 7,300-yard course that combines a touch of the British Isles with the rugged grandeur of Cabo. “The heart of Diamante is the stunning Mexican coastal landscape,” said Davis Love III. “Our goal in designing this course was to create a true links golf experience, while using and maintaining as much as possible the natural contours, unique features, and unsurpassed views of this remarkable piece of property.” Diamante has been described as stunningly beautiful. It is known to be relentless in its shot demands and hosts a tremendous variety of holes. Few courses offer a better collection of Par 3’s. Fairways and Green complexes are nestled in sand dunes that have been created by nature over time. Fast running fairways and ocean breezes provide the ultimate links golf experience. “This recognition from GOLF Magazine is a testament to the efforts of Davis Love III and his design team,” said Diamante Founder Ken Jowdy. “This is a proud moment for our Project Team, Property Owners and Mexico.
